It seems that every year with the return of summer, DATA feels the need to pull out the grooviest card under its sleeve, and this time it looks like you will not remember what happened Anoche!?, …but we know for sure, the only thing which will be rounding your mind over and over the day after is those so-funky, tropical smoothy synths and the so-fresh hypnotizing conga beats blended with margaritas, piña coladas and martinis under the moonlight. Welcome these new magicians of DATA’s deepest nights, Pablo Sánchez, one of venezuela’s finest nowadays house producers which has been releasing on international labels such as House Café Music and Lovemonk, and NY based keyboardist and member of super dope’s live soulful house band Tortured Soul, Ethan White.

DATA welcomes this season with brand new venezuelan talent: DJ Velazco. After some experiments, Caracas born (with a Merida feeling heart) found his own sound: expanded reverbs and delays, melodic atsmopheres, strong basses and groovy percusions. Some might call it ambient house tropical tracks, some deep tech-house or just “house”… for us it’s another high quality release from Digital Audio Tropical Archives you can’t miss. Introducing “Muchas Maravillas Remixes”, a finest and outstanding regroove work of Muchas Maravillas in four different ways, first we have Masseratti 2lts with a happy and exotic version full of sticky phrases and a female voice treatment that makes this track continuously spin inside your head, then a reinterpretation in a more dubby view, after it it’s the turn of Paulo Olarte to submerge the track on a very techy hypnotizing beat, spiced with percussive conga forms, to close, Crucero’s gets a deep trip into the caribbean galaxy, elegant and smooth with whistling whisper hooks!, get ready to enjoy a lot of wonders world!.

DATA is proud to present Garnica’s Muchas Maravillas EP. Following his recent releases on Galktica Records, this Venezuelan brings to us these two splendid minimal house tracks tracks, which are definitely tropical yet slightly melancholic. Muchas Maravillas progression from chill out to foot-taping beats results in a beautiful piece, while Paisajes Extremos offers a lovely bass line with pleasing little twinkling sounds, no doubt able to offer some extreme sights. Reminding one of a tropical rain forest this EP is perfect for brightening a cloudy day.

With his second colaboration, Paulo Olarte gives bail to his sound in the tropics and proyects the conservation of house in its purest state. D.A.T.A. proudly exposes each of the tracks in the colombians best style directing the netlabel towards deeper new horizons. “Juego para dos” is a house voyage that scratches minimal and underbrushes deep, with the groove of the gods, under armoured and unconfusable keys of the chicago style. “Una vez mas” with a relevant beat and tracking loops, glides over classic and involves elements that are not easily forgotten. Without doubt, these tracks sounds “Entre Cielos”.

Paulo arrives to the tropic with two devastating tracks, breaking through with hipnotic beats, groove-loaded basses, suprising breaks and abstract melodies, in this minimal-climatic phenomenon called Digital Audio Troipcal Archives (D.A.T.A.).
Olarte is originally from Bogota, Colombia, currently residing in Hamburg, and has released several 12’’ on German labels such as Liebe*Detail, Fresh Fish and Anorak Tonetraeger.

Trujillo has come up with a very particular way to produce these tracks, willing to see the light of day from their very first notes. Always linked to the comedy in such peculiar sounds, Crucero crosses us with Huracan EP. Two cousin-like tracks: rockin’ drums, dissonant basses, guitars?, keys, leads and effects spinning non stop on 360 degrees on other’s axes.

Along with Garnica’s vision, Katrina takes a different deafening route towards wilder lands, sometimes exotic… the tropics seem to change shapes before the netlabel phenomenon, which sometimes are like the “eye of the hurricane”.

To acknowledge that we live in the tropic has its advantages. Checking back to reality where we are the sewage of a world, where theories melt away under the sun and gets new shapes makes us accept our own creativity, naturally and unattached.
To live in the tropic makes us wish endlessly to come up with ways to deal with our shortcomings and break the boundaries to express ourselves. The tropic means one step behind anything that implies solid and withstanding infrastructures, schemes or systems.
Wherever there was a house before, there is a shopping center today, and tomorrow there will be a flea market, or nothing at all. Cockfighting clubs become police stations; and boulevards, indigent’s flats.
Hence, to create, to invent, to share, to recicle are ways to replace and give sense to our “tropicality”.
This weather molds us and fuses us into a community where rules melt away.
This is where our community “becomes”, in accepting this tropical reality and intensifying it, in admitting that creation is short-term lasting, and for this reason it shouldn’t have owner other than that who receives it; to acknowledge that value resides in usefulness, to let others receive, love and create from your work.
